Are you attracted by the charm of historic industrial sites and enthused by architecture that gives new life to 19th factories, plants, warehouses and docks? In recent years this Anglo-Saxon trend has arrived in Italy too and we have admired bars, restaurants, showrooms, art galleries and fashion shows at industrial-chic venues. These still underused but far from ordinary locations can also be used as wedding venues. This, along with the fact that I have a personal liking for this style of celebration, is the reason why I like proposing and designing urban-chic weddings to couples who want something really original for their wedding day.
Ideas and Venues for an industrial-chic wedding in Italy
Who said industrial can’t be elegant?
The term describing the concept says it all: urban-chic, coined to refer to New York style and metropolitan stateside weddings, but which is now also something that can be created in Italy.
Enter locations such as Officine del Volo and Galvanotecnica Bugattiin Milan, Fabbrica Saccardo in Vicenza, Filanda Motta in the Veneto region, the Dogana Veneta in Lazise by Lake Garda or the port in Trieste – to name just a few examples of venues equipped to host weddings and other events. They provide unique settings that serve as really original backdrops for this style of wedding.
As an architect, I have worked in factories and furniture workshops, some of which were particularly old, and I’m not shy about sharing my love of red brick.
I love unearthing new places in which to set industrial-style weddings and my creative flair really gets going when it comes to manipulating iron, copper and pulleys, or on a quest for lampposts, traffic lights and large raw-wood tables.
Who is this style of wedding for?
Urban-chic weddings are perfectly suited to decidedly modern brides wanting a unique, minimalist and most certainly unconventional style wedding. They are for couples who follow the most recent trends in design, fashion and furniture and furnishings, and are looking for the charm of an unusual, historic setting, but not the usual period villa or castle.GET IN TOUCH
