This style of wedding is the one I feel most comfortable with. I was the first wedding planner in my area, here in Italy, to organise a wedding on the beach in Bibione in 2013, followed by others in Lignano. Last season I travelled down the Adriatic coast to Pesaro too; I am fortunate that knowledge of my weddings by the sea is spreading through word of mouth among tourists, Italians and foreigners who want to get married in the place where they spent a magical holiday or where they first fell in love.
Ideas for a beach wedding
The idea of a wedding by the sea conjures up images of an artificial setting, inspired by American TV series, but the reality is that I love this style of wedding because it is highly customisable: the flowers and decorations, an aperitif on the beach, an informal dress code and the chance to throw an unforgettable party.
A wedding on the beach in Italy blends a relaxed atmosphere with the idea of doing something unique and out of the ordinary.
Your choice of music is also key when it comes to beach weddings: from the surf style of the Beach Boys to all things Californian, as well as rock ‘n roll, disco, ‘80s or sophisticated ambient music.
My personal favourite is the mixed boho-chic style wedding by the sea with the ceremony at sunset on an almost empty beach, with the bride and groom barefoot.
My Full Wedding Planning service is ideal for covering all of the organisational details and decorations: the symbolic wedding, boat transfer service, hotel bookings for guests, and the overall mood for the wedding.
Venues for a wedding by the sea
You are spoilt for choice!
In Friuli and Veneto, my top venues include, without a doubt, “Ai Casoni” in Bibione, “Tahiri” in Lignano, “Ristorante Da Jerry” in Jesolo, and “Sabbia & Sale Feeling Beach” in Chioggia.
A little further afield in Italy, I had an excellent experience at Hotel Excelsior in Pesaro and, according to the preferences and emotional ties the couple may have with a certain place, there are some dream venues in Liguria, in Forte dei Marmi, in Polignano a Mare in Apulia, and in Sicily on the Isola Bella or in Taormina, or on one of the extraordinary white sandy beaches in Sardinia.
Who is this style of wedding for?
A wedding on the beach is perfect for those who love being by the sea at any time of year and delight in the romantic setting it offers at sunset.
It is also for those who, perhaps marrying for a second time, are looking for something different, a truly unforgettable ceremony.
